How Does A Lawnmower Cut Your Grass? by Todd Johnson

I’ve been mowing my yard or other people’s yards since I was 13 years old. 41 years on, I can say that I thought I knew about everything about how a lawnmower cuts grass. You pull the starter cord. The engine starts. Push, or drive, the mower over the grass, and the grass gets cut. It turns out that there is a lot more going on under your mower than you could imagine.

Destin Sandlin has a YouTube channel called SmarterEveryDay. He uses high-speed cameras to see the things in life that we miss with our naked eye. Check out the video below to see how the grass gets cut when viewed in slow motion.
